#WednesdayWishList – At The Beach

#1 on my #WednesdayWishList this morning is for my girl Martha Bean to feel better.  Last week Ben woke up to a poop explosion in our laundry room (that's where Martha sleeps in her crate).  Turns out she had giardia, a totally gross infection that puppies are apparently susceptible to.  The vet sent us home with antibiotics, and Martha seemed to be on the mend.

Welp, last night at 4 AM I woke up to poor Martha covered in poop yet again, along with our laundry room, her bed, and her toys.  I'm waiting at the vet as I write this, so wish us luck.  Good thing she is soooo cute.

marthaIt's really starting to feel like summer around here – hot and humid! – which is a bummer for any hair situation I attempt, but it also means our beach trip is just around the corner.  We're going with my family to Bald Head Island in a few weeks, and I can't remember the last time I was so excited to get away.  The beach is my happy place, and Bald Head has to be the chillest, most relaxing spot on God's green earth.  Ben and I have been several times, but it will be the first time for the rest of my family.  I'm so excited to share the experience with them – I think they're going to love it there.

Last night, my sister and I were texting about how much money and effort it takes to get us beach ready these days.  Between spray tans, waxes, nails, swimsuits, hats, totes, and mumu-style dresses that allow us to indulge in a margarita-heavy vacation diets, it ain't no joke, y'all.  I thought I'd share a few things I'm thinking about snagging for the beach…and for the rest of the summer, because really, it's hard to say no to an ice cold beer (or seven) on a hot day.  Enjoy!

Mara Hoffman Shirt Dress

Mara HOffman Dress

I ordered this dress in the purple when I had a 40% off coupon to PiperLime (sad face it folded!).  No joke, I LIVE in this thing.  It's the perfect summer mumu – super comfortable, lightweight, plus it doesn't wrinkle when you pack it.  I loved it so much I just ordered it in the green (above), too.  It definitely fits on the looser side, but unlike a maxi, which can drown your figure in fabric, the length makes this dress very flattering.  I wear a small.

Birkenstocks

Birkenstock

Sorry not sorry.  I tried these on at Nordstrom and I can't stop thinking about them.  In the silver they are so, so cute and even more comfortable.  I approve of this loose hippie bitch trend and so should you.

Beach Tote

Beach Bag

This snazzy little number from Furbish is the perfect accessory for a black bathing suit, some sunnies, and a straw hat.  If you're looking for something a little less pricey, I picked up this $35 tote at Target a couple weeks ago.  It's a good size – big enough to fit a towel, some books, and of course Martha's toys.

Mason Jar Cocktail Shaker

Mason Jar Cocktail Shaker

I bought this as a housewarming gift for our friends' beach house a while back, and now I want one for myself.  Not only is it charming, it's also industrial-sized, meaning you could shake up four or five hefty drinks at a time.  I'll be using it to make many margs during our week at the beach.

Marzie Fedora

Beaded Sun Hat

My sister picked this cute little number up at Anthropologie this weekend.  Now that I'm old and I burn/get freckly instead of tan, I am a nut about sun protection.  I've been wearing hats to the beach for years now, so I have a cute little collection, but I'm pretty sure I'll be stealing this from Maggie during our vacation.

Milly Crochet One Piece

Milly Swimsuit

You all know how I feel about one pieces.  I love the racerback on this one, and it's sexy without being too in-your-face…i.e., perfect for the family vacay.  Plus there's nothing classier or more striking than a black swimsuit.  Tempted to pull the trigger on this one.
